Thank goodness it is Friday! This week was weird given the very strange weather. 90's one day - 50's the next. Hate the former - love the latter. I actually got to wear my Peace Fleece Everyday Cardi yesterday ... seriously, how cool is that??

My contribution to The Dulaan Project is finally finis! I will mail it on Monday, due to the fact that the scarf I finished last night is blocking. I look forward to creating more items for them in the future. Maybe a sweater or shawl??!! This time, I will be sending 3 hats, 2 scarves and 2 pair of sox. I used worsted weight yarns for all - so they will be plenty warm. Here is a photo:

This weekend - I hope to finish my second ClaPpY! I am only in the 'straights' section so I will need a marathon knitting session. (Hmmm .... do you think DH will cook, clean, and take care of the pet kids while I knit??) Wish me luck! TAGs and Comments .... Please!

I am finally back from the "Land of the Melting"! With temps in the 90's ... I am good for absolutely nothing. Well, I shouldn't say 'nothing' ... I mean, even heat can't keep a fiber artist down. *It* may take a wee bit longer - but in the end, for me - to create is to breathe and now that the temps have dropped almost 30 degrees TODAY - I am breathing a whole lot easier!

As an artist, I have never been one to be 'overly matchy'. While I don't tend to break the rules - I bend them with 'glee and a glass of wine'. That is why I am delighted that the world is just finding out about mismatched sox! Now, I handpaint sock yarn - so ... look out world! Check out this article:

But, sometimes the MUSE must run amuck. Nothing like 'amuckness' to get those juices flowing! A while back, my friend Nancie sent me this fun kit from Bonkers. Didn't I tell you the heat couldn't keep me down? Check out *MY* fun hat! I am thinking of making a lampshade out of it ... YiPpEE! My muse doesn't sweat - does yours?? One can never have enough fiber, yarn or projects going at one time! I have started my second ClaPpY and while I truly love the pattern - I find myself wanting to do something else.

Isn't that always the way?? We work on one project and dream of another!

No respectable woman, who calls her Blog "Sheep at the Beach", should be without a Seaweed Stole!! Don't you agree??? I mean, I *need* this!

But - the Project Boxes are busting at the seams! I just received 30 lbs of wool straight from the processor AND I just reserved 2 more fleeces!! (How can anyone resist a wensleydale X and a teeswater x when dangled in front of one's nose??)

Alas, no photos to present to you on this fine day! My camera isn't broken - just feeling a wee bit lazy! What would I photograph?? The 30 lbs of wool that arrived on my doorstep this past week?? The *really* cute books my friend Pamela sent me from 'across the pond'?? (BTW: The Sweaterheads are *quite* funny! ... Thanks, Pamela!) OR Maybe I should photograph the winter woolies I am making for The Dulaan Project to give a final push to those who are creating for this wonderful cause as the items *must be* received by July 1. Hmmmm ....???? What to do!

I am *so* ready for a long weekend!!

The weather here has been nothing short of "ark-like" ... Drenching rains! Gusty winds! Bone chilling dampness! Great for wearing wool ... Bad for the freshly planted vegetables.

After 4 days of insurmountable drudgery, I made it into the garden (read: the compost needed to be emptied). My tomatoes & eggplant look fine - the few seeds that became uncovered were happy to receive a 'tap-tap-tap' back into the soil. I am hoping the sun will make an appearance this weekend ... I need a Vitamin D fix.

Of course, this weather does NOT lend to a quick dry time of hand dyEd Sock Yarn skeins! MoMMa Mia!! I did manage to snap a 'still' of these babies!! On top, left to right:

Tonight ... 24 is on TV. Both DH & I got totally hooked on this show - just this year! Now, for those of you who do NOT watch it - SHAME! It is so cool and so addictive - and it is "Season 4"! Keep in mind what I just 'said', DH & I got hooked THIS year!

What are groupies to do?? Well, purchase "Season 1", borrow "Season 2", purchase "Season 3". We couldn't find anyone to mooch the 1 & 3 off of so - eBay and Amazon won our business. Suffice to say - this show makes Kiefer Sutherland a 'hoTTie'!

So ... while I wait for 9pm to arrive - I will spin, knit AND stir the dYe pot! But don't think for a moment that "24" is my only addiction. Fiber *does* play into my psyche!! Another *new* favorite thing - dyEing sock yarn! Love it! Love it! Love it! What do you think of Cocktails on Nantucket ? Comments .... please!

I have been knitting - much to the chagrin of my dyEing & carding.

Earlier this week, I had lunch with my parents (who live out of state). My ClaPpY was resting ever so gingerly upon my shoulders. I admit to looking a tad cosmopolitan! (Suffice to say - I looked *good*!) Anywhoo - dear MoM announced that said ClaPpY is just the thing she needs to keep the chill at bay when she does her VEGAS junket. You guys to know that I live in New England, right?? Well - she gets chilly playing the slots.

More Brooks Farm yarn will be ordered. It will be an early Bday gift.

Since I am not "Slap-CLAP-HaPpY" at the moment - I decided to use a wee bit of my handspun for a scarf. I recently became aware of the neatest charity:
The Dulaan Project. They ship warm woolies to Mongolia! Perfect for all the sox, mittens & scarves that tend to accumulate in a knitter's stash. The next shipment must be received by July 1 (snail mail is on their web site) - plenty of time for a pair of sox or 2. Currently, I am working on The Morning Surf Scarf - yes - there are dropped stitches - but it is spun from alpaca & silk - so it provides lightweight warmth! I buy yarn/fleece - I donate to a charity who needs it! It keeps a wonderful balance in my Universe! Comments - please!

I am HaPpY for several reasons today!!

First, it is Friday. Granted, on *this* particular weekend, weather forecasters are predicting that an ARK will be needed for transportation. I am quite despondent about the forth coming gloom & doom as I was traveling a wee distance for a yarn & bead pilgrimage. Won't happen this weekend .... woe is me!

Second, The Knotty Sheep has now collected over $200 for the
Southeast Llama Rescue! I am delighted, but I still hope to do a lot better by the time my self imposed deadline of October 31,2005 arrives.

And last, but not least .... I am ClaPpY HaPpY!! My Clapotis is FINIS! I love it and plan to make one or two more. I *know* I need to make one for a friend for Christmas .... but, this could become a staple in *my* wardrobe. I used Harmony yarn in the Amarillo colorway from Brooks Farm Yarn. I chose it due to my penchant for wearing jeans every day. I recommend the yarn highly. Wonderful softness - high luster! Well, what do you think of my newest FO?? ..... Comments, please!

I have been SO busy knitting my Clapotis that I haven't truly focused on anything else!! I started said "ClaPpY" last Thursday - I would like it to be FINIS tomorrow. How cool is a one week FO??

Of course that means I will be doing a little marathon knitting session tonight .... C'est la vie!

But while I am suffering from the "Clap" - my mind has also been wandering to the out of doors. I guess I am lucky (??) that the weather hasn't been overwhelmingly beautiful of late. While I am able to satisfy my "ClaPpY" cravings - I truly enjoy springtime flowers and the beauty they bring. You can too ... not only will you be helping those with disabilities - your yard will be beautiful ... you will also be saving plants from being destroyed AND - did I mention, they are FREE?? (OK - there *is* a $6.95 processing/shipping fee - so, they are *almost* free!)

I have been a *very* busy little bee of late .... Today, I embarked on a new venture at The Knotty Sheep: sock yarn.

The "Painted Toes" line has been unveiled! Toes & feet around the world will know a little slice of stylish heaven. Color, color & more color - dancing on a canvas that is merino wool! OOOO - La-LA! The two colorways which made their debut were "Jazzy Frogs on Electric Lily Pads" and "Skinny Dipping on Clouds"! (I think you will be able to tell which is which!) Please take a peek .... and as always - Comments, please!

Here I sit, with a stack of clean fiber to my right. After I finish typing - I will place my left hand ever so gently on said fiber and then I will raise my right hand. I will recite "I will never ask my husband for permission ... again"!.

Seems strong, I know. But, to give a wee bit of background ... I wasn't asking for a new wheel, new car or diamonds. I wasn't asking for a new house, a large stock portfolio or a boat. I wasn't even asking for a trip to Tahiti or an a bottle of 1787 Chateau Lafite ... all I was asking for was a night off from dinner planning, cooking & cleaning. Truth be told, I was asking for a "large, Buffalo Chicken Pizza" - to the tune of $15.23 (that *is* tax included).

Don't get me wrong - my husband is a nice guy. He puts up with my wool, yarns, wheels, spindles & needles all over the house. And, he is the first to get tickets to a local pro sporting events (think NE Patriots or Boston Red Sox) - but, the pizza? ... Just don't go there!!!

Next time, I will call and have it delivered. Sometimes it is just easier to ask for forgiveness - than it is to ask permission. (BTW - the pizza *was* most excellent!) Comments .... please!

One of the most tedious parts of anything is the planning. Sometimes I like to plan - other times I don't. Knitting, to me, is an adventure .... why plan? All it takes is some needles - and fiber - and the journey begins. Alas, lack of planning has doomed the most mighty of warriors ... I am no exception. Not that I am a warrior - I prefer to think of myself as someone who takes risks in sensible shoes.

I just finished turning the heel of my second sock ... notice how much yarn I have left. Granted, my size 10s do take a more than modest amount of yardage - but, I acted on faith (translate that statement to 'lack of planning', please see above) and much to my chagrin - I am WAY short. Off to the Frog Pond they will go. Now the question becomes - do I restart the sox OR do I start the
Clapotis??

See that case of wine?? Well, I found an incredible Pinot Grigio that is INexpensive - ok - it is down right cheap! Don't you just love the name Fish Eye Winery? Anywhoo .... I stuffed my second sock in an empty slot. Now, why is it an "empty slot" you may ask?? The Pinot is chilling - after all - I *do* plan sometimes! Comments .... Please!

I am pretty excited ... I finished ONE WHOLE SOCK this weekend! The other will be cast on tonight so I may not suffer from the dreaded Second Sock Syndrome !

Why is this exciting you may ask? Well, check out those colors! I dyEd this colorway and I love it. "Simple Glory" is perfect for those denim days ... Pure 100% merino wool socks , my toes will be in heaven! Stay tuned ... more toes will be heaven bound soon ...... Comments .... Please!

There always seems to be something new I either want to do, need or try! Such is life when you play with fiber and yarns! But, I take solace in the fact that I am not alone. Most of us have more than one project on the needles at one time! Most of us have more than one fleece to play with at one time! And most of crave more, each and every day.

Sigh .... I have finished one sock (for charity) and I have started its mate. My aran sits woefully neglected! My Clapotis is just a twinkle in my eye! And, my Project Box has yet to shrink. I understand that increased daily sunshine makes everything grow ... this box is no different than any other life form!

Should I mention the new fleece that arrived this afternoon? A Karakul lamb!! Check out that staple length!! Holey Moley ... isn't it grand?? Comments .... Please!

Since I refuse to start another Project Box at this time ... (truth be told, I need to *find* another box in simliar dimension to the original PB) .... Now is the time to hurry and work on projects that are waiting in the wings.

I am haPpY to announce, I finished my first Red item for the Knit Red Along! This group is helping to promote awareness of women in respect to heart disease. I will be creating at least 6 different red items for Christmas gifts - all with tags with heart related information. You can peek at my
Red Irish Hiking Scarf below. Isn't it YuMMy?? I used 2 skeins of Ukranian Red Peace Fleece yarn. The cables show up so nicely.

But, if I could just return to the Project Box for one second. Since PB #2 already has a waiting list .... check out the fun stuff I have received in TRADES (well, 2 of the books I did buy) the last several weeks. MoMMa Mia .... I will be busy! Busy! Busy! I have been extra busy of late! Working (day job), working (fiber job), spinning & knitting. That doesn't take into consideration household chores and other assorted responsibilities. Top it all off with cruising the internet and finding wonderful free patterns just waiting to be created. (OK - some need to be purchased - but, Hey! - I share the love!) Yes - I am busy!

Of course, when I find a pattern that peeks my curiosity, I print it for my 3" binders. I splash the word free in the upper right hand corner, so I know I may share it at some future date. Being an artist that holds several copyrights - I uphold my fellow artists' creations with deep consideration!

Now, knowing me, the way that "I am" - I go off to search for the appropriate yarns that make my heart sing. What is more glorious than a wonderful pattern complimented by the most perfect of yarns?? But, knowing me the way that "I do" - I forget 'what yarn' is for 'what pattern' and I end up by doing something totally nuts with it!

Enter "Project Box"! My "Project Box" has patterns bagged with appropriate yarn! Kits awaiting for the touch of my finger tips! Special skeins waiting to be united with the most wonderous of patterns! My "box" was loaded within 5 mins - and it is 36" long. Sigh ...

Well, I must get cracking! I find at least 3 new patterns a day! That is almost 1100 patterns in a year! Woe is me ... it is already April! Comments .... Please!

I am delighted that it is Friday! Sad that we are expected 2"-5" of rain tomorrow as it has already ruined my plans - but, I am glad that it is Friday!

I was all set to write about artists. Performance artists! Musical artists! Fiber artists! Writers! All who try to earn an income playing with what ignites their souls! It is hard in this day & age of Walmarts and fast foods. But, I digress - I decided NOT to write about it.

Instead - I received my new tote from a wonderful lady named SallEE! It has tons o'pockets to stash my stash in! And it is made with 2 hands and a big heart - and it is "retro" Paris! It is an objet d'art! And - it was made just for ME!! You just can't buy *that* at Walmart!

I survived the holiday! YiPpEE! Now, it is back to work! Seriously - shearing season is here ... and there will be an influx of wool arriving. Might be today - might be tomorrow - but, I know it is coming.

I have been busy both knitting & spinning. Carding & dyEing too. (You can see the fruits of my labor HERE - sorry for the plug, but see above paragraph! :)

The one thing that I haven't been doing is my pastel artwork. I just seems like it is not fitting into my schedule right now. Could it be lack of interest?? Lack of space?? Lack of desire?? Well, I thought I would share an art piece I did a while back ... subtle urging by the general public never hurt. Comments ... please!

I have been busy doing 101 things. Yes - Easter is Sunday and I am hosting the festivities. Not the worst thing in the world - but - all my beautiful fleeces are in 'limbo' until the beginning of next week.

Seriously, how can I dYe a ton of wool *this* week?? I would be a nervous wreck fearing that an errant furball would meet its demise on a guest's dinner plate!!

Thankfully, I can still knit (Irish Hiking Scarf) and spin. Isn't it great that my dog is as passionate as I about spinning?? Comments .... Please!

Nothing cheers up a "krabby" fiber artist (don't ask) quicker than goodies in the mail! My second order from Earth Faire arrived. YiPpEE!

It takes me a while to climb aboard things. Maybe it is due to procrastination. Maybe it is due to individuality. Who knows?? But, as of the very near future - I will be climbing aboard the ClapotisTrain. Isn't it neat?? Love the pattern and the wideness of it.

I will spinning the yarn for it - so it will be done by NEXT fall. (Notice, I *did* say very near future in the first paragraph!) I still have some suffolk on the wheel that I would like to finish first. But, I have decided to use some wonderful wool that I purchased from The Silkworker 100 years ago. Yes ... this was before I started mine own little fiber biz & something this wonderful should not be wasted. Won't this make a perfect Clapotis?? Comments ... please!

Cold! Cold! Cold! MoMMa Mia has it been cold! Feels more like January than March. Isn't Spring sometime this month??

With shearing season upon us - I should be telling you of the wonderful goodies arriving at my doorstep! California Red!, Cotswold lamb! YuMMy! I should be taking pictures - but, at this point - they are traveling onward to the processor. (I do not *DO* dirty fleeces!) :)

But instead of telling you of my wonderful finds - I shall spare you the drooling and will turn my attentions on a wonderful writing class I am taking. It is via email - & it has been an eye-opener! I am telling you about it here - because when
Maitri's book is finis - I am sure everyone will be clamoring for her attentions. I envision an invitation to appear on "Oprah"!! It is THAT good!

The weather outside is frightful - but the woodstove is so delightful! I LOVE our wood stove ... it makes these New England winter nights cozy & comforting. Yes - we received another blast of snow. Not to much - just about 5". I am wearing 2 sweaters - a pull over I knit a few years ago from North Islands Designs - and a cardigan that was bought in a mall kiosk at an 'after Christmas sale', also a few years ago. You know the type of sweater I am talking about: thick, bulky, scratchy. It was knit with something tantamount to airplane upholstery fabric. Heck, made shoveling the driveway bearable. I actually broke a sweat!

Tonight - "24" is on. Woo-Whoo! I will be sitting near the woodstove, spinning some merino & silk with sleeping doggies at my feet. I hope you N~joY your night too! Comments .... Please!

February has come in with a bang! After receiving almost 3' of snow last month - Mother Nature gifted us with another 6" yesterday. I am glad the water tables will be 'topped off' for spring/summer gardening. I was thinking of gardening today while shoveling ... guess I have tomatoes on my mind.

Tonight, will be a toss up between knitting & spinning. I started sox on the way to the Superbowl last week - and I have only completed about 4" of one tube. (The 'Spiral Tubes' from Socks! Socks! Socks!) Weird - but they are actually in Philadelphia colors - what WAS I thinking???

Tomorrow will be spent carding & dyEing. After all, vacation is over! If you are feeling Shoppie - I am really proud of "A Song is Born"!

In all respects - where exactly did January go? So, it was cold, dark & snowy - but it still flew by. C'est la vie!

I will be starting some sox this week!! Straight out of the "Socks! Socks! Socks!" book. Something EZ PZ ... a totally mindless venture. I have chosen the simple 'Spiral Tubes'. My mind is in a flux ... simple pattern, no heel - this should suit me for the upcoming week!

Do I have to remind anyone that the Superbowl is this coming Sunday??? Woo-WHOO! Two words ... "GO PATRIOTS"!!

Over the next few days - I will be headed to Florida to cheer the Pats on. NO! I don't have tickets to the actual game - just a cheapo flight & a nice room on the beach in St. Augustine. I hear the Fountain of Youth is there! YiPpEE ... maybe if I jump in I will get carded when I hit the bar! Comments ... please!

Verizon decided to 'wig-out' - so, at this time, I am pictureless. Seems kind of weird to look at those little red x's and know that they are hollow shells of what WAS there. Sigh ...

Well, I have counted ... as of this date - I have 10 fleeces coming this spring! YiPpEE! Haven't even used all my stock from LAST year, but that is ok. All in good time. Did I mention some "Paco-Vicuna" is coming to live with me?? YiPpEE, again!

I have to say ... I am *SO* excited that The Patriots won their game this past Sunday!! Payton Manning?? Who *is* that?? (Of course, he is the NFL MVP - with a ton of nice stats & a huge paycheck to boot - but I ask you ... where is his Superbowl ring??? Hmmm???)

Yes siree .... before Christmas I received 10 orders for my scarves. Three more just came in! (YiPpEE!!) So - here I would like to present "Hot Flashes"! Well ... what do you think?? I am going to do something wild & crazy in the "Shoppie" department this year: to satisfy said shoppies for myself and others by purchasing on eBay! I won't hold myself strictly accountable for ONLY purchasing on eBay - but, it is such an amazing GLOBAL retail force.

Since I have decided that my mantra for 2005 is to "Enjoy Every Moment" - I can best enjoy each moment if I don't deal with malls & mall traffic. I like shopping in my slippers! And the ideas that come from all the wonderful things I see .... MoMMa Mia!!! (Of course - I *do* sell on eBay too - but, that is a different story!)

With each passing year - the time flies by! MoM was right, the older you get, the faster it zooms. C'est la vie.

I hesitate to admit to any 'resolutions' - they are nothing more than unobtainable wishes. Instead - I commit to the philosophy of "Enjoy every moment"! Life is to short NOT to comprehend the nuances of each precious second ... especially since the devastation a world away.

I also commit to involving myself more with others. I need to get out of my own way - and out of my own head - and into the lives of others. It is only with sharing of ourselves that we truly receive the gift of humanity. With that - I have joined two lists which have evolved out of love for our sisters & brothers! Wanna join too??
All Crafts 4 Charity accepts a wide range of knitted/crocheted items. First on their agenda - woolies for "Afghans 4 Afghans"! I can *do* that!!

Artist Noreen Crone-Findlay has started recruiting fellow artisians to create dolls for sale with a portion of the proceeds being donated to various charities (ie: The Red Cross, Americares, etc) - I have never really made a doll before -but, I am willing to try!!

OK ... I know it has been 100 years since I have posted! The Christmas Frenzy has been alive & well. As usual, THIS was the year that everything was supposed to be done. THIS was the year that cards were out in a timely manner! THIS was the year the individual presents were bought/made with the receiver in mind! Yes ... THIS was the year that MARTHA would be proud. Well, she is in jail and so goes my theories of THIS Christmas!

I *did* manage to finish 10 novelty scarves and one poncho. The poncho is for my niece. I used tidbits of left over novelty yarn to compliment the plain stockinette stitch. While you can't really see the crocheted flowers - they do add a nice touch! Merry Christmas!

YiKes! I can not believe that ThanksG is less than 2 days away. I am pretty prepared - we are hosting - and DH cooks the meal. So, my job is basically cleaning & grocery shopping. I feel like I have been doing THAT since Saturday. C'est la vie! Now that I am following FlyLady , there will be no more CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome) for me!! Do try it!

I also came across this petiton to help save the Wolves . A noble undertaking to be sure.

This week, I bought this really nifty Mannikin!! I would like one of those fancy 'dress forms' one day ... preferably a nice antique. I thought it to be an interesting concept to treat my finished knits like the ARTwork they are!! Today was a *good* mail day! I received my Llapaca order!! Yes ... this is fiber from a llama/alpaca x. And - to be even more specific ... it is from "Pearl"! She is a favorite furbaby of mine.

I might just have enough stashed away for a little lace goodie for me. The problem is time ... I do NOT have enough of it!! Ah well ... maybe in my next life!

I am just TICKLED that the Red Sox have won the World Series! How cool!! No more late nights .... for that I am both happy and sad!! The good news is - I can finally wash my BoSox sweatshirt. (Superstition does play into these types of events, you know!)

But, even with all the time in front of the tube - I managed to complete my Halloween 2004, "I FELT That" needle felted sculptures!! Yes - the lunar eclipse last night *did* have a tinge of RED and since the Universe was in phenomenal alignment - these sculptures quickly were a sell out! Woo-WHOO!!

Recently, while on holiday - I completed a needlefelted pumpkin. Yes - I know it was in the current issue of "Spin-Off" - but that really didn't have anything to do with my desire to make one. It *is* Halloween this month. Thought you might like to see my latest creation! TAG ME ... You are it!

YiPpEE! First FROST last night! I am just tickled about it! I wore a handmade sweater to work today - and it felt wonderful! There is something about being wrapped up in something that was handmade that makes my spirit soar!

Playing with wool this time of year is magically delicious! The trees are turning, the air is crisp & the woolens are out of their closets. A decadent slice of heaven.

Although life is ALWAYS busy - I try to do at least 8 rows a day. Keeps the pattern & symbols fresh in my mind. This is what it looks like, as of today ....

After frogging the Aran 9 times (!) - you would think that frustration has set in and I would be done with it. Well, truth be told, it has set in - but I refuse to let 2 needles & some yarn crush me like a bug. Sure - it still mocks me, but day by day - row by row - it is becoming a pattern. Challenge can be a 'good thing' ... Just ask Martha.

I want to complete a few more rows - then I will post a picture. In all honesty, after working a lace shawl - I thought this would be EZ PZ! (I can hear it still mocking me from afar!)

My spinning has taken a back seat to all of this ... Hopefully, I will get some done this weekend, as well as some dyEing. I haven't been overly productive in those departments either.

Well, after frogging the Aran 6 times, I thought I was good to go ... I had 8" done and was *this* close to posting a picture of my work here. Good thing I didn't ... I had done it wrong! So ... back to the Frog Pond it went. I have casted on and this weekend, I hope to start it anew.

Yesterday, I got the most incredible fiber from my friend Nancie (she of soon to be Prairie Point Llama & Alpaca fame!). Take a look, and meet my new friends!

When are the Olympics over? Not that I am wishing for them to end - but, with all the 'one hundredth of a point' differences between medal winners and non-medal winners - I can't concentrate on my knitting. Truly, what was I thinking when I tried to start my Irish Aran last night whilst Paul Hamm was crashing into the Judge's table before his METEORIC rise to the Gold?? What was I thinking??

Actually 5, "not so bad" rows, were completed before the Frog Monster came. It wasn't Paul Hamm's fault ... it was DH's! I mean, with all the heart stopping events in the world - he has to pick a Coke commercial to make a ruckus over. The commercial showed a person giving 'a stranger' a Coke. I am assuming said stranger 'drank' it ... DH's philosophy ... "Would YOU drink Coke given to YOU by a stranger"? I see & can even appreciate his point ... but - to make a SUCH big deal of it when I am laboring over this pattern??? What was HE thinking? "Rip IT"!

Congrats to all the Olympians - obviously their concentration is better than mine!! Tag ME ... You are it!

Hip Hip HOORAY!! The humidity is finally GONE! There are many reasons why I dislike the humidity: flatter hair than normal, no AC in the studio, and especially - my wool doesn't dry.

I have had a beast of time working on wool this week - but 'they' say it will feel almost 'fall-like' this weekend ... another Hip Hip HOORAY!! I am keeping my sockless toes crossed ... I don't put to much stock into "Live Doppler Radar".

I did subscribe to a neat magazine today. Wild Fibers is based in Maine and seems to go where other fiber mags don't. How could I resist 'The Seaweed Sheep', as featured in the current issue?? Do join me in a subscription .... tell *Linda* Kary sent you!

As you know, I love incorporating doggie fur into woolen batts for spinning. I am currently working on a commission project for a lovely lady who is planning something special for her grandaughter. As you can see, the collie's fur is on the left - my batts, which include wool from "Abigail" & "Guy", some silk & angelina sparkle - are on the right. I still have a long way to go ... see the first paragraph ... doggie fur doesn't dry in the humidity either! TAG ME ... you are it!

Well, I changed the name of my BloG. "Sheep At The Beach" - is more *me* sounding. I love the whimsy it brings to mind: sheep surfing; sheep sunning; sheep drinking umbrella drinks. Now, I guess *I* will need to be more creative. :)

I just finished reading The Shop on Blossom Street . What a fabulous summer read. I recommend it highly - and hey, just because it is set around a knitting shop ... that didn't hurt it one little bit!

AND - while I have been melting here due to the high humidity (and no AC!) - I have been thinking about Fall. Now, I don't need another sweater to knit. I REALLY don't! I have 2 in the queue as I type but I love The Rogue Sweater. It seems it went around BloGdom earlier this year. Who knew?? We will see ... it reminds me of the Elsebeth Lavold designs.

Last night I finished carding some batts with Curly Horse! She Dances With Wools - was an inspiration gleened from Evelyn, my Adopted Native Elder . It is a very worthy charity - especially as some of the elders continue to weave traditional rugs!
What a great way for those of us in the fiber community to support others who are too! TAG ME ... You are IT!

I am always on the look out for good fleeces! I dare not think how many pounds of wool I actually purchased this year. But, I feel it is my Patriotic duty not only to keep the economy going - but also to support the small shepherd!

Yesterday, I found a wonderful finn/leicester x as well as a Barbados fleece! I love finn and the Barbados - well, that was a 'must have' purchase as I have never seen one before! But, if you are in the need for fleece - check out CHRISTEN's sheepies . I can't wait for both Ethel & Jason to arrive.

I have also tallied my list of "Reserved" fleeces for the year 2005 - as of this date - I am up to 5. Gee, I wonder how many more I will acquire??

Why the indulgence? Besides the patriotic duty, supporting the small shepherd, I just love fleece! Love creating with it! Love touching it! Love looking at it!! WhEEEE ... I am in fleece heaven! TAG ME ... You are it!

Gee - just when I said that I would post more .... sigh! My life will be taking a new direction as I strive to find a balance in my work, home life & health.  It will be a journey of twists & turns - but I am thinking it will be one of great adventure!

This summer - I have fallen in love with my local library.  It isn't the most up to date or eye appealing edifice in the world - but the service it provides overwhelms me!   Please support your local library too .... One way I do is donate all my magazines to them instead of putting them in the recycle bin.  They still get recycled (to another reader - hopefully, they will still make it to 'the bin' one day!) and the library earns 25 cents!  Small things do add up!
 
I have 2 pair of sox on the needles ... hmmmm.... Maybe they are good project for the weekend!

In my email today, I received this 'story/obit' from my mother in law. It says to pass it along ... I chose this BloG as my forum as I talk about "Common Sense" quite a bit & I feel that more people should honor its existence ... or respect its passing. I do not know the original author - if you do, please say "Well Done" from me. TAG ME ... after you read!

"Last week we mourned the passing of a beloved old friend by the name of Common Sense who has been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago
lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing
when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that
life isn't always fair.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more
than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in
charge).

His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place.

Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a
classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his
condition.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student; but, could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became
contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better
treatment than their victims.

Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, she spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his
wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.

He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you
still know him pass this on, if not join the majority and do nothing."

Spring is here ... the RED SOX are in first place in their division ... life is pretty sweet!

As always - I have been busy dyEing, carding & spinning. But, now I must add gardening & lawn chores to my daily repetoire. I LOVE being outside and since my husband & I try to live as organically as possible ... I feel my efforts help the Earth. I don't mind being busy - I just have a problem with wasting time.

Part of my time wasting has to do with photographing fiber. I NEVER knew how hard it was until I tried capturing the correct colors of skeins & batts in a digital format. Since I sell the stuff, it is VERY important to capture the colors as best I can! Sure, listing colors is helpful, but my idea of 'celery' is totally different than someone elses!

So, I have a tip! Photograph your work using its complimentary color as a background. White or black backgrounds are nice - but they may distort the exact color you are trying to capture. Using a simple color wheel - often available at craft stores and a staple in art stores ... you can decipher complimentary colors. If all else fails this CYBER COLOR WHEEL shows the complimentary colors if you scroll down a bit.

See? I told you I would post more .... wheeeee! Today, I was able to complete a hat that I had made for Prudence Mapstone's Cyber-Gallery . I call it "Head Chick"!

Suffice to say - it came out 'large doll head' size. Maybe a child could wear it, but alas, not jumbo headed me. I suppose this might be a 'good thing'. TAG ME ... You are it!

NBC's "THE APPRENTICE" is over for the season. Sigh ... This was a 'Must See TV' show - one of the few reality shows I have ever watched and suffice to say - I was hooked.

I think what separates this 'reality' show from others is that you can actually pick up tidbits of business advice from 'The Donald'. Knowledge is a powerful tool and whether or not you are in high stakes real estate or a small, independent fiber biz - tidbits of information from a rather successful individual should not be taken for granted. I was slightly 'WOW'ed with Trump's lifestyle - and pleasingly voyeuristic when those snippets of his life appeared. Not to say that I would want to live that lavishly ... but I would like to try it for a month (or 2)!

Me?? I am glad that Bill won - although Kwame is no slouch. I would hire both in an instant if I were a mogul. Can't see either of them carding wool ... let alone washing it - but, heck! I don't wash it either!!!

I have decided to update my BloG more often. If you scroll down - on the left, I have a list of books that I have finished. This is HUGE for me as I am not a big reader. I figure if I document them - it would encourage me to read more. Notice - I have even read one of Mr. Trump's books! Weeeeee! TAG ME .... you are it!

OK - I know I haven't posted in a REALLY long time. Once again - life is getting in the way of BloGGing! C'est la vie .... I will try to do better!

I have been busy spinning and carding for THE KNOTTY SHEEP . I am delighted that the response to my products has been SO favorable. YiPpEE and Thank EWE!! I am still in the stages of finding a balance between making sure everything I need to do gets done. One thing I know for sure - the whole fiber process takes time! Thankfully, it is time well spent!

I also purchased the best earrings from my friend EVE! I purchased a pair for myself and a pair for a (belated) birthday for a friend. Notice the art work at "Spinning Karma"? I did that!!

Well, in short - that is my life! Boring as it is - it makes me happy! My only current WIP is a pair of Joslyn socks. I have about 3" to go on the first sock. I am in 'sock phase' right now ... don't know why - but it is fun! Tag me ... You are it!

Spring is finally here - although you would not know from the temperatures outside. I had actually turned the heat in the house down a few weeks ago ... today, I turned it back up. Weather in New England!! Got to love it!

I have been busy dyEing, carding and spinning. This past week - I received my 2 beautiful shetland fleeces from Lael at Maplewood North. Check out the site & look for Daisy & Simba ... they both came to live with me. Isn't Simba's fleece GORGEOUS?? I honestly don't want to let it out of my sight ... but off to the processor it must go. Yes ... I am THAT bad at washing fleece.

My other 2 fleeces should be coming back from Wooly Knob any day now! I can't wait to see them and I am itching to play with them!

All in all - I have kept myself out of trouble being fibery! Oh - I should mention ... the dubblmossa never even got started this winter ... let's see how long it takes for me to get the socks I have on the needles completed!! TAG ME ... You are it!

Where OH! Where is the time flying??? I have made some fine progress in completing tasks - but no where near where I would like to be! My knitting sits in it's basket - unloved & untouched! My spinning wheels have had some exercise - but not enough. My carder .... Ah! Now my carder has been busy!

I truly enjoy blending the expected with the unexpected! Pushing the creative envelope always does one's muse good! I think this is how we grow artistically ... When we do the unexpected. Such happy accidents can occur not only in our creations - but life in general! When we break free of our confines - that is when we truly become who we were meant to be!

Off to go create ... I am working on a pastel landscape ... Something of a different genre for me! AND - more carding! Do you need to exercise YOUR wheels & needles more ... Well BUY ME !!! TAG ME ... You are it!

Well, while I have been patiently awaiting ALL my fleeces - one did manage to pop in to make my acquaintance ... a beautiful California Red Fleece. It's stay was short - it rested here only for a few days before it was out the door again - on its way to the processor.

Truth be told - I haven't been idle while waiting for shearing day (s). No siree Bob! eBay is a great friend (or foe depending on available fiber dollars!). I received 2 boxes today - one containing the most exquisite silvery white WASHED romney! The second, washed suffolk. I am re-washing as the ends were a bit gnarly - but check out this staple length! MOMMA MIA! TAG Me ... You are it!!

I have been tremendously busy spinning & carding of late. I enjoy the process and I love to watch what 'blends' actually develop on the carder. Even though I spend most of the time frolicking amongst natural colored fibers and adding color ... I am also trying my hand at dYeing. It is a calculated science to say the least! I don't know how far I will progress and I am quite limited by space - but the journey is fun! The batts I created last week - I just put in MY STORE ! If you are feeling shoppie ... Don't let me stop you ... I have 7 (yes! You read right!) SEVEN fleeces coming ... gulp! How can one resist these tantalizing morsels??? Sigh ....

DH & I watched a program about Grizzlies on PBS last night. (Nope - no Academy awards here - like, I really care who is wearing what! I have all I can do to match DH's socks!) CHARLIE RUSSELL is truly amazing. He will be getting some charity dollars from us! To live amongst the grizzlies and to see how these animals commune with him & his wife is AMAZing. Hats off to you, Charlie! I salute your hard work!

No news flash here: I HATE washing fleece. I am no good at it and I never want to do it again! PHEEWW! That feels better. Feels like a weight has been lifted as it seems everyone I know in the fibery world has no qualms about washing fleece. Truly - I am NO GOOD at it! AND with 4 fleeces coming as soon as their respective shear dates are over .... Look out!

Since today is Thursday - it is my ARTIST DAY! This is time that is set aside that I go in studio and play with pastels. I finally finished "Marcus" (side note here - I began in November 2003!) . Marcus lived on Redbud Wool Farm and Linnet ... His person, was kind enough to let me draw some of her sheepies. This is for her ... and Marcus! TAG ME ... You are it!

Things have been busy in my studio since the new carder arrived! I have been having a ball creating lovely batts of wool. Of course they are FOR SALE! Feel free to place a bid ... My husband would be delighted if you did! :)

With the new carder came my INSANE desire to purchase raw fleeces! WHY???? I HATE preparing my own fleeces - but things change as we grow! To ease into the process, I am starting with 2 pounds of raw Suffolk. I ordered it from Abi at High Prairie Fibers ! Got to love a shepherdess who also does parrot rescues. Hats off to you, Abi!

Then, there are 2 coming from Linnet at Redbud Wool Farm , and 1 from Bonnie at Sheepy Thyme and then today - I found out that I am getting a hogget fleece from my friend Alicia who named a churro after me! Woo-WHOO! I am so excited .... REALLY SCARED .... But excited!

The Superbowl has come and gone and I will not be complaining as the New England Patriots won!! For those of you who love QB Tom Brady, his popularity increased a MILLION fold. To bad I am married or I am sure he would be banging down my door! C'est la vie!

I recently ordered a Fricke Petite drum carder! The time will tick slowly by until it reaches me. I hope to create some really interesting blends - but as with any new tool , test drives will be important. Hope I don't hurt myself - those things look sharp!

But, what is a girl to do during the recent colds spells? (I would say - long, dark days - but it *IS* getting brighter out there daily!) The answer of course is to SPIN and draw!! TAG ME ... You are it!

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY! It is here! Can YOU believe it?? I am just so excited - that I think I will burst! I am planning on bringing my Ship's Slippers to knit upon while at a friend's house. I am not one to care that corporate America is spending 2.3 million on a 30 second ad (don't really know if that is an accurate figure, but I know it is close!) - so I will sneak a row in here & there. The mailing period is this week - so they MUST be completed!

My creative juices were flowing ... I have been pushing that proverbial 'creative envelope' and LOVE BUGS
was the result!! I had a ball (HA! no pun intended) doing this skein and I look forward to expanding my 'novelty' yarn inventory. I really like the fact that the sky is the limit when it comes to imagination!

Still more than a week to go for the Superbowl! Can YOU stand it?? I can't! My husband would have us flying to Houston in a heart beat - just one small problem ... game tickets! Realistically, how can one spend several mortgage payments on one game?? But, we will be cheering the The New Engalnd PATRIOTS on to victory! No foam fingers for me ... how could I spin or knit??

Drum carders have been weighing on my mind of late. I don't really know if I need one - but I am thinking it would be fun to create 'interesting' batts of 'GOD knows what'. I have managed to finish a handspun cashmere & silk scarf! Came out quite nice and oh, so soft. Now - it is time to sit & spin as well as knit a pair of Ship's Slippers! There is still 8 days to the Superbowl! TAG ME ... You are it!

It has been SO cold here these last few days! I mean - temps, with wind chill, that surpass the 20 degree BELOW mark! BELOW 0 that is! Now, I am pretty hardy - being of Lithuanian descent & living in New England all my life - but this is just plain cold! Perfect weather to play with wool! AND I have indulged this passion quite intensely this last week.

I have been attempting to spin funky yarns of late. Yarns that would make fun trims & embellishments. Miss Robin isn't really up to the task as the orifice is rather small and the hooks are a tad tiny & close together.

BUT - experimentation is good. While playing one night with some extra fiber I had on 2 bobbins - I created the below squiggle yarn. First I S'd, then Z'd, then S'd again as it was REALLY over spun. I set the twist and hung the small skein with a weight ... something I don't usually do. (I feel the weight of a wet skein is sufficient.)

I have been having these last few days - making room for the new things that a "New Year" brings. With every new year, promises of organization, weight loss and de-cluttering are renewed. I decided it was time to sell off some of my 'children' ... Not literally as I don't have children - but skeins of yarn that have been spun with love & patience. Good karma abounds with these babies!!

Some are harder to 'let go' than others. Seaweed is such a skein. So - if you are in the market for a wonderful, handspun skein of corridale - that reminds this soul of long walks on the beach, salty breezes in your hair and sand tickling your toes ... Then please bring this baby home to live with you. TAG ME.... You are it!

2004 is here! YiPpEE!! This year is going to be great - I can truly feel it. I have done much spinning ... And while I am still knitting away on a handspun cashmere & silk scarf - I have thoughts of other projects swimming in my head. Needle felting is on the top of my list . I am seriously trying to spend at least 4 hours per day being creative. It is a challenge, but I find if I make time in my life for the creativity to flow ... It 'creates' more inspirations! How cool is that??

Today, I posted my first Klaudette design of 2004. The NFL football playoffs have commenced and shall we say that I found my inspiration?? Klaudette has joined 'The NFL'!! TAG ME ... You are it!

I am quite amazed that 2003 is coming to an end. Seems like just yesterday I was in a whirl wind - spinning up a storm for SIS's Christmas afghan. Thankfully - it was completed, with time to spare & treasured on Christmas morning!

With 2004 just around the corner - I hesitate to make 'resolutions' due in part to the inescapable failure of NOT doing them. Seems weird - I can honor marriage vows but not one of losing weight, less yarn & fiber stash, less alcohol & more exercise! Hmm ... I guess in the scheme of things, my priorities are on target.

So - in thinking of this glorious year awaiting all of us - I do resolve one thing: to live more gently upon the earth. It shouldn't be THAT difficult ... I mean, to bring less packaging into the house ... No problem! To eat less meat ... EZ PZ! To walk places instead of always driving, to give more of myself as opposed to 'things', to spend more time making my little corner of the world AND myself the best it (& I ) can be. To cultivate peace & love to all that I meet .... No, these aren't resolutions - just me trying to 'pay my rent' for my space on earth. (Did I mention spin & knit & draw more too??) Happy New Year! TAG ME ... You are it!

Christmas is fast approaching & I am pretty much FINIS!! The cards are almost completed, the gifts are bought and those that were intended for loved ones far away are zooming to their destinations as I type. Some have already landed......which is phenomenal!

The REALLY spectacular thing is - I have already made notes, quotes & recommendations for NEXT Christmas. Gifts I thought about making certain individuals - but just never got around to it. OR - ideas that blossomed due to some unexplainable reason. I am just psyched that I will be prepared - and being prepared takes the pressure off. No pressure - No stress.

This weekend - I knit this really cool
FRONTIER HAT for myself. It went extremely quick and I look like I belong in "Dr. Zhivago". Pretty cool stuff!

I also recently spun a wonderful dorset x rambo roving. Then I Navajo plYed it. I LOVE using this technique and have found myself on occasion purchasing roving just so I may indulge myself!! What do you think?? TAG ME ... You are it!

It is the first MAJOR snow storm since - well, the last one - but it is wonderful to be able to spend the day discarding clutter to make way for the Christmas decorations tomorrow. I am hoping between the 'white' outside and the 'blinky' lights on the inside - I will be able to appreciate this time of year a tad more than I have been. Wish me luck!! Part of my goal for the coming year is to be able to purchase 'sheep' from
Heifer International to 'gift' to a deserving family. The funds will be determined by the sales of my art. That is right -
I am donating 10% of my sales to purchase sheepies!! It
will take me a bit to arrive at the appropriate figure - but I am
hoping by Thanksgiving of 2004 - I will be able to contact

TA DA!! The PF cardi is finis!! I kicked butt this weekend & completed it. I paid special attention to the details - I have never been 'known for' seaming & sewing. I yearned for that flawless look at I think it came out quite nice!! I did some 'Karyisms' on the collar - as what was printed didn't appeal. I also used vintage buttons for a completely individualistic look. I love this cardi and it will make its public debut on Thanksgiving Day. (Ok .. You are getting a sneak peek here!) Am I crazy?? I love Peace Fleece colors SO MUCH that I want more ..... sigh!! Here she is .... My Peace Fleece cardi!! TA DA!! Tag me ... You are it!

I have been working like a crazy woman the last few days on the PF cardigan. I decided that I wanted to wear it Thanksgiving ... sigh! I don't know about you - but sewing sweaters together seems to take forEVER (and then some!). And the weaving of the ends? I must remember to breathe!! Plus - I am also working on a scarf for my
ELDER. I would like to be able to ship this sometime during the second week of December - along with a few other goodies. I am making this scarf double thick - and it is being made from thel, silk, angora and alpaca ... toasty!! Of course - the Dubblemoussa mocks me every time I walk by it ... but my confidence is growing - I will tackle *IT* soon!! What are you knitting or spinning today?? .... TAG ME - you are it!

I have been suffering from the 'Feelin' Shoppie Syndrome'. It is an unavoidable happening which surfaces from time to time. Anything & everything fiber related is up for grabs. While I am waiting on the 'Dubblemoussa' to arrive - over the past couple of days I have purchased some new fibers. Wonderful fibers that I am looking forward to receiving!! First - I made a stop at Wonderland Dyeworks. Alice had kindly picked my name in a recent contest for FREE fiber. I picked "Harvest" - but then again - how could I not pair that with "Autumn"? Then, the vivacious Linda D from Grafton Fibers posted THESE ... how could I pass them by? So - 2 colorways are coming to play with me. Didn't need any of them - but wanted them all. And since the dubblemoussa & these fibers will be arriving shortly ... I have been busy working on the Peace Fleece Everyday Cardigan . I chose the 'Ancient Fern' colorway - but to be quite honest - all their colors are saturated with color. Check it out!! TAG ME ... you are it!

For some unknown reason - the cyber gods still will not let me post pictures. C'est la vie! Thankfully - I still am able to do 'clickable' links. I marvel at other BloGs that have photos and snippets and html stuff - but alas - my BloG is one of simplicity. There are no bells & whistles. I wish that there were - but, for now, just call me 'Plain Jane'. First, I must tell you - I am beginning to offer my sculptures for SALE!! (I know - unabashed plug to make $$). I am really excited as needle felting is just one more way I can work with fiber!! It is such a blast too ... of course - when I stab myself it hurts like the devil - but - the final product just astounds me. Making 3 dimensional objects from fiber!! WOW!! "Espresso et beignet" is both whimsical and delightful! The cup can actually hold paper clips or other small things. YAY - both beauty & function!!
Secondly - I think I am going to try my hand at fair isle.
The Dubblemoussa was the item I needed this weekend to keep my ears warm! That wind was whipping off the ocean to the tune of wind chills that felt like 10 degrees! The sad thing is - I doubt I will finish it much before August. Wish me luck ... until then - a warm cup of espresso will do just fine! TAG ME ... you are it!

WHOO! Maybe I am inspired to write because it snowed today - that has put me in the absolute BEST mood! Here I sit,
swilling honey laced tea with a woolen sweater and woolen socks adorning my person. Of course it isn't still snowing -
but it was a nice surprise this morning. AND - speaking of writing ... my dear friend STASIA entangled me in her web of
letter writing. Being one who loves to get nice snail mail (no
bills or junk!) - I entangled freely. With the magic of the first snow, I received my LEX number today!! The Letter Exchange is keeping
the ART of letter writing alive. I think I have 'checked off'
about a dozen listings to which I would like to respond.

Vacations come & go! Mine came & went all to fast. I don't really feel energize & relaxed as it was a time to catch up with old friends & to make new ones. But, ANY time that is spent doing different things in a different place is a welcome change in a basically boring routine. I would LOVE to show you pictures, but for some reason for which only the cyber-Gods know - I can't! C'est la vie! I did travel to Block Island (RI) and my accomodations were beautiful as always!! Yes - I have stayed at this B&B the last 7 years.
THE BLUE DORY INN is centrally located in the Old Harbor district. Perfect for strolling & eating. The shopping this time of year is pretty non-existant - but with the natural beauty of the island - who would want to be INside?? Even while running to & fro on the island - I did manage to knit on a scarf that will be gifted to a friend's niece! I am hoping that due to the beauty & calmness the area provides - I knit a ton of good, healing karma into it as this friend's niece suffered from a severe car accident a while back. Thankfully - she is on the mend. AND - just like I need another hobby - my good friend STASIA has addicted me to the craft of letter writing once again. As I child I collected wonderful papers & notecards - just to have. I think I was the only teenager on my block who owned wax & a letter sealer! While I admire the immediacy of the internet and the wonderful way with which it connects the world - I also enjoy receiving beautiful hand written messages on fine papers & cards. I love opening them and I love admiring the stamps. Weird?? Nope - just simplistic in its old fashioned quality. I think I need calling cards ... wouldn't THAT be fun!! What have you been up to .... I am screaming with delight over my new auction win! Nope - not from eBay - but from the wonderful FUNd raising auction provided by DANCE AS EVER ! Who could resist a hand knit, Bonnie Franz, cotton jacket with the word PEACE knitted in 98 different languages?? Certainly not I! If you scroll down the auction page - you will find my new wearable ART piece. I will be stalking my mail box until it arrives. I am tickled that I am helping the ARTS which inspire, enlighten and educate all of us thru various mediums. I encourage anyone to assist these precious programs when they can. Government funding has diminished so many ART programs in recent years! ART is a GREAT way to nourish the soul and experience life in a creative way!! THINK ART! AND - to TOTALLY change the subject .... I also recently discovered the pleasures of liquid soap. I am not talking about the run of the mill, harsh & abrasive store bought stuff. I am referring to liquid GOLD - that refreshens and relaxes at the same time. A delicate, pleasing scented soap that makes you want to wash your hands ... A LOT!

I have finally been busy in the studio once again! YiPpEE!!
Once I begin to create - it keeps on coming. I find it weird when that happens. A momentum develops and I gladly accept it into my life! All to often, distractions keep me from what I want & what should be doing. I procrastinate and then get frustrated when I don't accomplish certain things. It feels great to finally be on track! Klaudette has made a come back and I must say, I am pretty proud of
KLAUDETTE! TAG ME .... you are it!

So - I truly haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I find summer to be SO unproductive for me. I can not stand the heat or humidity! Give me a cool (or cold) New England day - and I am in heaven. I have decided to plunge - fearlessly- into my art & fiber passions. "The Knotty Sheep" website will miraculously appear in cyber space one day - I will be offering my Klaudettes and fine art pieces. I am tickled and I hope to complete it soon. On the knitting needles: The Everyday Cardigan from PEACE FLEECE in the Ancient Fern colorway. Their yarns and colors are spectacular!! AND - I love the fact that it helps wool growers from various parts of the world. Truly - it is a Peace FULL enterprise. The BAGHDAD BLUE is truly inspirational!! On Miss Robin, the wheel - silk from Carol, THE SILKWORKER - although, miracle worker is more like it!! Carol has an incredible eye for color! Her silks are always in demand - so much so - part of me didn't even want to share her website!! (Bad ME!!) :) What have you been up to??? TAG ME ... you are it!

Well, I did it! I completed my first lace item!! Thanks to Miss STASIA who enabled and encouraged a group of us to do this - I am now the proud owner of "The Creatures of the Reef" shawl designed by DOROTHY at Fiddlesticks Knitting. I must tell you - this is one of the best written patterns I have ever laid eyes on. Fear not - if *I* can do lace - anyone can!! At the widest edge - this shawl measures approximately 84". August is HERE! For me, I get in the mindset that 'summer is almost over'. It helps being in New England where the leaves will begin to change and the shorts will give way to sweaters. Lately, it has been hot & humid with tropical type downpours. Yes, sweater weather will be here shortly (I hope!)! I have been busily working my way thru the COTR (AKA Creatures of the Reef) shawl - I am on row 84 - I still half about 2 thirds left to do! I will try to post a picture soon! (HI! Deborah!) AND while 'surfing' late last week, I came upon a charity that sparked my interest: ADOPT~AN~ELDER. After doing a little research (thanks Alicia!) - I discovered this organization to be an excellent venue for keeping Native Americans in their homes while in their twilight years. Some of these 'elders' live in very remote parts and have limited means. I figured "I CAN" purchase food twice a year for someone who doesn't have any. "I CAN" knit warm woolies for someone who is chilled. "I CAN" let someone, somewhere know that they are loved & valued and that they are not alone. "I CAN" make a difference! You can too!! It doesn't take much to make someone smile! TAG ME .... you are it!!

OK - so I know that I haven't posted in AGES!! Life has been good & busy of late, without computer access on the weekends to boot. That really diminishes my internet time! C'est la vie!
I have been enjoying the wonderful weather that summer provides! I have also been playing with fiber non-stop, and boy! is it ever fun!! First, I have been spinning on Miss Robin almost nightly! I am still neglecting my spindles ~ but I love the production that the wheel provides! I am also knitting my first 'lace' shawl! It is called "Creatures of the Reef'. My friend,
STASIA formed a Yahoo! group so we could all comiserate together. It has been a true confidence builder!! Stasia has a button on her BloG to connect you quickly to this group ... please join for a wonderful experience! I have also ordered an Ashford "JOY" from Margrett at RUNNING MOON FARM! Margrett has even painted the treadles with a 'sheepies by the sea' theme! I will post a picture when it arrives! I can't wait to try the JOYness out! Well, in a nutshell, this is what I have been doing! How is your summer going?? TAG ME ... you are it!

WOW! I can't believe that it has been so long since I did a BloG update! Time flies! I did complete several fibery projects: both spinning & knitting! I always have something on the wheel & needles. It is my spindles that are being neglected. Not for any particular reason - it is just 'not where I am at' right now. I seem to be moving in many different directions - the wheel soothes me as I must 'stay put' to do it. I honestly LOVE my spinning time ~ it is the way I begin & end each day. Kind of like winding up & down. Got to love the irony! What have YOU been doing? TAG ME ... you are it!

Even in the recent heat - my creative juices are still flowing. I have continued to knit socks by day, spin by night and draw on my "Artist Day" on Thursday. I believe I am more grounded when I have the opportunity to express myself thru these venues. In the coming months - I would like to take all of these endeavors to the next level. I am not sure what this will entail - but it will be an interesting journey!! I have included a picture of "Miss Nell" - let me know what you think .... TAG ME! ... You are it!

The biggest disadvantage of the arrival of the Summer Solstice - as soon as it is here - the days start to get shorter. Seems like Spring never arrived - and lo & behold - here the calendar is telling me it is now summer! Ah well ... the garden has the tiniest of shoots popping up. Thank goodness for farms such as Diamond Organics !! YuMMy!! I love supporting organic farmers. Pesticide laden & genetically modified fruits & vegetables have become the norm. How sad is that?? I also purchased some 'heavenly' roving. It hasn't made its way here - but I know Dulcenea will be most wonderful. (Should I mention I love supporting sheep farmers too? Especially those that aren't typically mainstream!) Considering the weather has been less than perfect of late - I have been able to knit & spin TONs!! I also got a new Klaudettecompleted too! Feel free to place a bid ... I think I need to buy more roving .... ggg! TAG ME ... you are it!

The last 2 days have been amaZing ... the sun has shone! The warmth received from the golden rays has rejuvenated my spirit. It has been the longest winter ... virtually no spring to even mention. Granted, the sun peeked out from the clouds mid-afternoon, but it was still enough to cause JOY! While knitting outside, I finished my 24th pair of slippers for the Ship's Project. I am quite pleased with the colors in these. I use all my tidbits of yarn for the slippers - and sometimes the colors just sing! These are screaming!! I hope these bring JOY to whom ever receives them! This morning - I was BloG hopping and I stopped to visit at THERESA's - and she asked 3 amaZing questions: "What surprised you today?"; "What moved you today?" and "What inspired you today?". These are excellent questions!! My answers: how much I got done when I stayed OFF the computer; my pedometer - my goal is 10,000 steps a day. (Man - do I have a lot of walking ahead of me!); and a bee collecting honey while I was mowing the grass. Neither me nor the mower bothered this little fellow from his appointed rounds. Nature is amaZing! What were your 3 answers?? TAG ME ...you are it!

I finished my 23rd pair of Ship's Project slippers today! I am glad when I accomplish something. The Old English Sheep Dog & wool blend is almost completed too. Does anyone else get bored with spinning the same thing day after day?? AND - have you ever left your project half way thru spinning it only to realize that when you start again - you are spinning differently?? Weird, huh? That is why I am pushing forward to complete this. I hit over a thousand yards - me thinks that will be enough for a vest. (It is 12 wpi!) I also completed some art work too! Look at KLAUDETTE and look at my pastel sheepie RIVER. LINNET, River's care taker, has given me permission to draw her sheepies! Now THIS is going to be fun! TAG ME ... you are it!

It has been a very fibery last few days!! First, RIVER came to live with me! Her fiber is such a delight ... it is a sweet cream color - I am thinking this would make the PERFECT fisherman's knit sweater for the Beach House!! Secondly, today I received my order from HOMESTEAD Wool Farm - the colors in the photos do NOT do justice to the finished fiber batts. Most of these prepared batts are just $1 an ounce! That is right, ONE DOLLAR !! If you scroll to the bottom of THEIR fiber for sale page - I purchased the Patriotic batts & Morning Glory ~ aren't they absolutely divine??
