September

September is one of my most favorite months. I am quite confident that I repeat myself yearly on this fact. I think for me it is a time when I get a ton of stuff done. My way of celebrating cooler temperatures & 'fallish' colors. I think I am thanking God for them both as well!

It is also a great time of reflection. My daily routine relaxes the tiniest of bits as I rejoice in morning coffee in the sleepy sun. The dogs rest comfortably on cushions after their walk instead of panting on cold tile in efforts to cool down quickly. Yes, September is an awesome month!

Of course, knitting takes center stage. A few weeks from now, woolies will be needed for those dog walks; trips to the bus stop; raking of leaves; football; and all those fun activities enjoyed only in the fall. If you could just stop for a moment and realize all those in need who could use a warm scarf; a pair of mittens; a hat or socks ... you would be overwhelmed.

One of the many things I LOVE about knitters & the fiber community is their commitment to share. I have just completed 2 scarves for the Christmas at Sea program. These were knit out of handspun & will be mailed out early next week.

I am currently in the process of knitting another scarf for Outreach to Appalachia.

Whatever your fancy - I do hope you will take a moment to knit something for someone somewhere. This world sure could use YOUR talent & YOUR good vibes to make a heart warm & a smile shared.

Ah .... September

It has been ages since I last posted. I have become exhausted from the curve balls of Life being lobbed at my head. It isn't anything that I haven't been able to handle ... just bunches of stuff on a consistent basis.

The weather has turned, the temperatures are more comfortable & it is time to move on. Sometimes *things* hold us back - whether those *things* are tangible or intangible ... it doesn't matter. Being held back means that we don't grow.

Let the sunshine, Baby ... I have lots of growing to do!

We choose to be in the Dark or in the Light. My choice is always the latter. There is much darkness in the world today. That is one unfortunate fact! But, if we all try to shine a little brighter: give a little more, do a little more, love a little more & pray a little more - darkness begins to fade. Not a hard concept.

As Fall begins to make herself Welcome - it is time for more spinning and knitting (especially for Charity!)

I recently turned my "Sleepy Cloud" battz

into "Sleepy Cloud" skeins!

Jaeger continues to do well ... he is an amazing boy who has gone thru much! We think he loves being with us - except when we wake him from a nap to snap a photo!;

Knitting for Macuwita sni has been first and foremost on my mind! If the weather is starting to change here - I know it is changing even more rapidly in South Dakota!

See that ball of white handspun?? That, my friends, is icelandic wool I handspun in the grease! I used some left over sock yarn for double stranding purposes!

This week, I have already done three pair!

TRES cool, if you ask me!

As I said, Life has been lobbing curve balls of my head - but it is OK ... I am now wearing a helmet! Shine on baby - I am BACK!

10 days til' Christmas

The fact that we are 10 days from Christmas is ..... WOW!

My tree is up and the music is playing. Lights are blinking and the woodstove is roaring. The Spirit of the Season is here .... it is a time to share & love. It is time to give more than we can ever dream of receiving.

My scarf for "The Giving Tree" has been finished a placed under the Church tree. I am glad that it will warm someone soon.

I immediately casted on another for the Cheyenne River Sioux. Macuwita sni is warming many a resident on the Rez!

Also, this year, many of my gifts will be donations to causes & charities. Most of the people I buy for need absolutely nothing. I hope they don't mind if the fist full of dollars I usually relegate for them - goes to an animal in need. A few of my favorites:
German Shepherd Rescue League of NE; Pittie Love Rescue; The Elephant Sanctuary; and Greyhound Friends. And trust me - there are many others organizations who could use donations too.

I look forward to giving & sharing this Christmas!! In fact, I hope that over the course of this coming year - I can give my most precious gift .... a gift of time. There are people to visit, neighbors who need assistance, and animals who need love. There are strangers who need a kind word & a hot meal. Yes ... Christmas is a time give ... I do hope to keep Christmas in my heart all year long!

I have been so incredibly busy of late ... that now, my body rebels with it's first FALL cold.

We are just 24 hours into this new season ... and well, I suppose I let myself get run down. Mom was right, I can't burn the candle at both ends. Sigh ....

One of the things that keeps me going is working for causes I believe in. There are many ....
That being said, today, I want to highlight one that is EZ PZ to help. No money is involved ... and *that* is SO cool in this trying economic time. This local dog rescue has the opportunity to win money from Care2. I do mean a LOT of money .... 10k to be exact.

The German Shepherd Rescue of New England helps this large breed of dog find their forever homes by carefully placing them with wonderfully matched families.
